MA Mom Lindsay Clancy's Triple Murder Trial Begins

PLYMOUTH, MA — The triple murder trial of Duxbury mother Lindsay Clancy — who was charged with strangling her three children to death — began Monday.

"Clancy, 35, has admitted to strangling 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 8-month-old Callan Clancy on Jan. 24, 2023, with her lawyer telling the court last week that “the circumstances of this horrific act are not in dispute,” Boston.com reported.

After the birth of her youngest, Clancy's "mental health collapsed" and she "checked in to a psychiatric hospital," according to the Associated Press.

"Nineteen days after she was discharged, she strangled her three children at their Massachusetts home," the AP story said.

"Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder and faces life in prison if convicted," according to CNN. "Her attorney has argued she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and extreme mental illness when she killed them."

"The children were all strangled to death with exercise bands," Court TV reported. "After killing her children, investigators say, Lindsay Clancy then cut her wrists and neck before jumping from a second-story window at the family’s Duxbury home."

"On the night of the children's deaths, Clancy was paralyzed when she jumped out of a window in an attempt to take her own life," according to CBS. "She appears in court in a wheelchair, and has been receiving treatment at Tewksbury State Hospital since January 2023."
