Firefighter, Resident Injured In Massive Reading House Fire: Reports
Two people were hospitalized after a fire ripped through a Reading home Wednesday evening, according to reports.
READING, MA — A large fire damaged a house on James Road in Reading on Wednesday night, according to Reading Firefighters Local 1640.
The blaze left a resident and a firefighter injured, WCVB 5-ABC reported. Fire officials received a call reporting the blaze shortly after 5:30 p.m.
Crews arrived at the home to find the homeowner on the first floor suffering from severe burns, according to WHDH 7-News. The homeowner, a 65-year-old man, was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Firefighters dealt with snowy and cold conditions along with many personal items clogging hallways and rooms that complicated the effort to extinguish the fire, WHDH 7-News reported.
The fire spread from the first and second floors of the home to the attic. Crews were removed from the home once the fire hit three alarms, according to WCVB 5-ABC.

A Melrose firefighter was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
Two people were displaced as a result of the fire.
Firefighters were expected to stay at the home for the remainder of the night to ensure that the blaze was fully extinguished.
