Ephraim Curtis Middle School

On Sunday, September 20th, Sudbury will host our third inaugural <a href="https://kids.pmc.org/sudbury" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride</a>.&nbsp;Our ride is a 1-mile loop that riders may enjoy as long as they would like. The one mile course is entirely paved and loops through the beautiful residential neighborhoods of historic Sudbury. Parents are welcome to ride with their children but it is not required. If a parent chooses to accompany their child on the bike, we ask that they register as volunteers.&nbsp;
Many kids choose to ride the loop 3-6-12 or even 15 times. We encourage riders to participate as long as they would like. We will have special badges for riders who accomplish 5-8-12 and 15 miles, too! Please indicate at registration an estimate of your rider's total distance (this will help us for event organization).&nbsp;There is also an enclosed parking lot loop all starting from Curtis Middle School in Sudbury, MA. (Adults may opt to register as volunteers if they would like to ride with the kids). Before the ride there will be music and bike decorating; during the ride and following there will be an Ice-Cream Truck, Food Truck, Coffee Truck, huge bouncy castle, lawn games, music and more. All registered riders will get a free ice cream from our friends at Trombetta’s Farm Ice Cream. Registration takes place from 8:30am-9:45am. The ride is from 10:00am-11:30am, and food and games will be available from 10:00am - 1:00pm.
“The Pan-Mass Challenge is a Massachusetts-based bike-a-thon that raises more money for charity than any other single athletic fundraising event in the country. Always held the first weekend in August, the PMC raises funds for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, a world leader in adult and pediatric cancer treatment and research. Each summer, thousands of riders and volunteers from 43 states and 12 countries participate in the PMC, all with a common goal: to find a cure for cancer.
100 percent of all rider-raised funds go directly to cancer research and treatment at Dana-Farber and the Jimmy Fund. The PMC is Dana-Farber’s single largest supporter and is 62 percent of the Jimmy Fund’s annual revenue. Since 1980, the PMC has raised $972 million for Dana-Farber.”
The Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride empowers young participants to contribute to a meaningful cause while enjoying a fun activity. By offering multiple course options, every child will have the opportunity to participate and make a difference - regardless of age or ability. Each ride distance is carefully planned to be safe and enjoyable, with designated routes through historic Sudbury neighborhoods that are well-marked and closely monitored by volunteers. For the youngest participants, the tot lot loop provides a secure environment where kids can ride in a contained area - strollers, scooters, tricycles are ALL welcome!
Beyond the joy of bike riding, the Sudbury PMC Kids Bike Ride serves as a powerful educational experience for children, teaching them about the impact of collective efforts in fighting cancer. As they pedal for a purpose, they learn about empathy, community involvement, and the importance of supporting breakthroughs in treatment and cures at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This event not only raises crucial funds for cancer research but also instills valuable life lessons in the young riders; collectively we all pedal towards a more cancer-free future. As with all PMC rides, every penny donated goes directly to cancer treatment and research at Dana-Farber.

The book tells the largely untold story of the April 1941 bombing of Portland Square in Plymouth, England, which killed 71 civilians during World War II. McLaughlin will discuss the years of research behind the book and the personal family connection that inspired him to bring the victims’ stories to light.

READING, MA &mdash; September 2026 &mdash; SadieLadySecrets.com and best-selling children&rsquo;s author Stephanie Chiulli-Guillemette will host &ldquo;Burgers for Benefits &ndash; United We Grill: Remembering 9/11&rsquo;s Finest&rdquo; on Wednesday, September 9, from 4:00&ndash;7:00 p.m. at Fuddruckers inside Jordan&rsquo;s Furniture in Reading.
Held in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, the family-friendly fundraiser will bring the community together to remember those who lost their lives, honor the first responders who courageously answered the call, recognize those who continue to serve today, and raise funds for the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
<h3>Remembering 9/11 and Honoring Our First Responders</h3>
For Stephanie and her husband and illustrator, Justin Guillemette, the anniversary also carries a deeply personal meaning.
&ldquo;The 25th anniversary of September 11th is deeply personal to our family,&rdquo; Chiulli-Guillemette said. &ldquo;We lost someone very special to us that day, and seeing their name at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City is an emotion that is difficult to put into words. Twenty-five years may have passed, but time does not erase the people we lost, the memories we hold onto, or the impact they left behind. That is why the words &lsquo;Never Forget&rsquo; mean so much to us.&rdquo;
At the heart of United We Grill is a commitment to honoring the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, paramedics and other emergency personnel whose courage and sacrifice became defining symbols of September 11. Many made the ultimate sacrifice, while countless others participated in the rescue and recovery efforts that followed.
The event will also recognize the first responders who continue to serve today &mdash; the men and women who put on their uniforms every day, answer the call during emergencies, protect their communities and help others during some of life's most difficult moments.
By bringing families together, SadieLadySecrets.com hopes to provide an opportunity to say thank you while helping children understand the courage, compassion, dedication and sacrifice behind the uniform.
<h3>Supporting Tunnel to Towers</h3>

<h3>Teaching the Next Generation</h3>
The fundraiser will also feature two children&rsquo;s books written by Stephanie and illustrated by Justin that help introduce young readers to first responders.
&ldquo;Sadie Lady Takes a Trip to the Police Station&rdquo; teaches children about police officers, safety, courage, community and helping others, while &ldquo;Sadie Lady Takes a Trip to the Fire Station&rdquo; introduces children to firefighters, fire safety and emergency preparedness.
Through Sadie Lady&rsquo;s adventures, the couple hopes children will understand that behind every uniform, badge and emergency vehicle are real people who have dedicated themselves to helping and protecting others.
<h3>Burgers, Books &amp; Giving Back</h3>
Families can enjoy dinner along with face painting, Sadie Lady books, DIY kits, merchandise and family fun throughout the evening.
Guests who present the event flyer when ordering will help support the fundraiser, with Fuddruckers donating 20% of qualifying meal purchases associated with the event. In addition, 20% of proceeds from the SadieLadySecrets.com event will benefit the Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
