Man Shoplifts Lobster and Steak from Market Basket

The following information was submitted by the Salem Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following are excerpts from the Salem Police Department's log: 

Monday June 23rd: 

  • At 4:25 p.m., a woman reported that her car had been broken into on Highland Avenue and that items valuing about $500 total had been taken. 
  • At 5:14 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle accident on Lafayette Street. There was minor damage to both vehicles and no injuries. 
  • At 6:03 p.m., police responded to a report of a man who had shoplifted 6 cooked lobsters and 4 packages of angus steak from Market Basket on Highland Avenue. 
  • At 8:24 p.m., police responded to a report of a phone scam at Loring Avenue. 
  • At 10:24 p.m., a woman was charged with domestic assault and battery and intimidation of a witness on Derby Street. 
  • At 11:36 p.m., police responded to a report of a man throwing furniture out onto the sidewalk on Essex Street. 
Tuesday June 24th: 
  • At 2:43 a.m., police responded to a report of a loud house party on Forrester Street. The occupants of the house were playing video games. 
  • At 11:45 a.m., police responded to a report of a woman harassing the tenants of the apartment building she was evicted from. A no trespass order was completed. 
  • At 1:07 p.m., police arrested a man who had an active warrant for approximately a year. 
  • At 1:52 p.m., police responded to a fight between two women on Margin Street. 
  • At 9:51 p.m., police received a report from someone saying people had been throwing eggs at his car as he drove on Moffatt Road.
Wednesday June 25th: 
  • At 7:24 a.m., police responded to a report of a man walking down Willson Street looking in cars. 
  • At 11:12 a.m., police received a report of a woman receiving threatening messages via Twitter in an attempt to intimidate her from showing up at court to testify in a domestic matter. 
  • At 2:12 p.m., a man was placed under arrest on Margin Street on a Cambridge warrant.
