Salem Academy Names New Upper School Principal
Meghan Blume brings nearly two decades of teaching and school leadership experience to the position.

SALEM, MA — Salem Academy Charter School named Meghan Blume as its new Upper School principal for grades 9-12, with her appointment taking effect July 1.
Blume brings nearly two decades of experience in education and school leadership, including work in instructional coaching, school culture and equitable academic practice.
Blume was born and raised in Sheffield and began her career in education in 2008 as a member of the Teach for America Greater New Orleans corps. After two years teaching middle school English Language Arts, she became a founding staff member at Abramson Sci Academy in New Orleans, where she taught English 11, served as a literacy interventionist and worked as a Culture Dean.

After returning to the Northeast, Blume joined KIPP Academy Lynn Collegiate in 2014 as the founding English 12 teacher and senior Grade Level Chair.
She later moved into school leadership and began serving as assistant principal in 2020. In that role, she coached educators across content areas and grade levels and focused on closing opportunity gaps for historically marginalized students.

Blume holds a Bachelor of Arts from Elon University with dual concentrations in Literature and Professional Writing & Rhetoric and a minor in French.
She is also an alumna of the Lynch Leadership Academy at Boston College.
