Salem Halloween 2026: 50 Volunteers Sought For Haunted Happenings Grand Parade

SALEM, MA — Salem Haunted Happenings Grand Parade organizers are looking for about 50 volunteers to help run the event considered the official kickoff of the Halloween season in the holiday's unofficial hometown.

Residents who want to take part in the celebration but are "not looking to dress up or march" are invited to help with operations on parade day.

Volunteers will help coordinate the lineup at Shetland Park, staff pedestrian crossing areas along the parade route, and keep spectators from going beyond safety barriers.

The 29th Haunted Happenings Grand Parade is set for Oct. 1.

Those who sign up are also asked to attend a Salem Chamber of Commerce coordination meeting before the event on Thursday at 10 a.m., if registered in time.

Volunteers will receive a Haunted Happenings T-shirt for the event and as a keepsake.
