Salem To Host Volt & Vibe Eco-Rider Showcase

SALEM, MA — Salem State University will host the second annual Volt & Vibe: An Eco-Rider Showcase on Saturday with opportunities for residents and visitors to learn about and test ride a range of devices

The event is set for 1 to 4 p.m. along the Marblehead Rail Trail.

Attendees will be able to try electric bikes, scooters and personal electric vehicles, including unicycles, OneWheels and skateboards. The showcase will also give visitors a chance to learn about the advantages and challenges of each type of vehicle.

The city is promoting ways for people to explore alternatives to car travel without requiring a full lifestyle change.

"Micromobility is transforming how we live and move in Salem," Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo said. "Electric bikes and scooters empower residents with a truly connected, footprint-reducing transportation ecosystem right outside their front doors."

Salem is home to 17 Bluebike stations around the city, which rent out both bicycles and e-bikes.

There are 15 miles of bike lanes in Salem.

People who already own an e-bike, scooter or other PEV are invited to bring it to the event and showcase it.

Owners are asked to bring or wear helmets, and helmets are required for anyone under 18. Visitors must wear helmets to test ride, and while some helmets will be available to borrow, attendees are asked to bring their own, if possible.
