2 Shrewsbury Firefighters Celebrate Promotions

SHREWSBURY, MA — Two Shrewsbury firefighters are stepping into new leadership roles following a ceremony at Fire Headquarters.

Patrick O’Neill was promoted to lieutenant, and Adam Towner was promoted to captain during the Tuesday night ceremony, Shrewsbury Firefighters IAFF Local 4613 announced. Fire Chief Seth Colby administered the oaths.

O’Neill, who was pinned by his wife, Chelsea, will serve with Engine 3 on Group 2. Towner was pinned by his wife, Stephanie, and will be assigned to Car 5 as the department’s emergency medical services coordinator, the union said.

O’Neill previously served as secretary of Local 4613. Towner is the union’s current president.

O’Neill joined the Shrewsbury Fire Department in November 2016 after serving as a call firefighter, according to the town’s 2016 annual report. Meanwhile, Towner served as a lieutenant before his latest promotion.

The fire union congratulated both O'Neill and Towner, wishing them luck in their new roles.
