Shrewsbury 5K Trail Race Returns To Lake Street Park

SHREWSBURY, MA — Runners and walkers will return to Lake Street Park this fall for a race through the park’s meadows and forested trails.

The Shrewsbury Trails 5K Trail Race and Kids’ Fun Run will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at 430 Lake St. Children ages 12 and younger may participate in a run on the park’s lacrosse field, according to the town’s event announcement.

The 5K course will be on several surfaces, ranging from wide cart paths along the meadow loop to more challenging single-track trails beside Meadow Brook. Participants will also pass through wooded sections and areas with visible beaver activity.

The event follows the Trails Committee’s inaugural race in October 2025, when 63 participants completed the 5K. About a dozen children took part in an untimed quarter-mile fun run.

The volunteer Shrewsbury Trails Committee develops and maintains trails on public property with support from the town’s Planning, Parks and Recreation and Engineering departments.
