Shrewsbury Approves More Funding For Route 20 Intersection

SHREWSBURY, MA — The town is moving forward with developer-funded safety improvements at the busy Route 20 and Centech Boulevard intersection.

The Select Board unanimously approved an amendment to Shrewsbury’s agreement with Prologis, requiring the developer to provide an additional $76,000 for project design costs. The funding comes on top of at least $4.85 million Prologis previously committed for the design and construction of intersection improvements connected to a planned UPS distribution facility.

The additional money will cover design expenses at no cost to town taxpayers, town officials say.

Under the original agreement approved in January 2025, Prologis committed $600,000 toward design work and at least $4.25 million for construction.

The agreement is intended to mitigate traffic generated by the UPS facility approved for 50 Centech Boulevard. Town officials previously said the intersection improvements were expected to be completed before the facility became operational.

A Massachusetts Department of Transportation corridor plan previously recommended adding travel and turning lanes at Route 20, Centech Boulevard and Cherry Street, along with sidewalks and a shared-use path. The plan said development along Centech Boulevard was expected to increase traffic at the intersection.
