Shrewsbury Opens First Fully Replaced Playground In 26 Years

SHREWSBURY, MA — A new playground featuring slides, swings and sensory equipment is now open at Arrowwood Park.

Shrewsbury's first full playground replacement in 26 years was funded through the Community Preservation Act. The playground is located at 16 Arrowwood Drive and offers equipment for children of different ages and abilities.

Features include a multi-story play tower with a covered spiral slide and side-by-side racing slides. A shaded swing area has two standard seats, a toddler seat and a high-back adaptive seat.

The playground also includes a sensory area with rainbow chimes, flower-shaped talk tubes and a playhouse. A miniature roadway track is built into the soft-pour safety surface.

The town held a ribbon-cutting on Tuesday to celebrate the playground's opening.

“We are so proud of this park and all the people who made it happen,” the Shrewsbury Recreation Department said following the ceremony.

On-street parking is available near the park.
