Fights, Necklace Thefts, And Home Break-ins: Somerville Crime Log

SOMERVILLE, MA — The following reports were received by Somerville Police between Wednesday, Aug. 5 and Friday, Aug. 7.

Wednesday, Aug. 5

7:41 a.m. — Police responded to a report of breaking and entering at a residence on Francesca Avenue. A resident told officers that the home is under construction and that an electrical wire was stolen.

6:08 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a robbery on Washington Street. A woman told officers that she was sitting on a bench when approached by two men who said they were going to trade her necklace for another necklace. They then reportedly removed the woman’s necklace off and gave her the other one.

8:46 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a fight at Assembly Row. Officers found a man suffering from an eye injury upon arrival. A woman said that he got into an altercation with a group of juveniles and one of them pepper sprayed him. The juveniles were soon identified.

Friday, Aug. 7

7:12 p.m. — Police responded to a report of a breaking and entering at a residence on Central Street. Officers spoke with a resident who recounted receiving an alert that someone was at his door. He then went home and saw that his front door open. Nothing was reported missing.
