Police Exhaust Leads In Anti-Gentrification Vandalism Case At Somerville Home

SOMERVILLE, MA — A home under renovation on Park Street was vandalized with anti-gentrification graffiti, and Somerville police say they have exhausted all investigative leads.

Somerville police confirmed to Patch that the home was tagged with red spray paint bearing an anti-gentrification message. Photos of the vandalism showed red spray-painted messages reading, "F--- THIS. STOP TURNING EVERYTHING GREY," along with the word "GENTRIFIERS" on the exterior of the home.

"SPD investigated this incident until all leads became exhausted," Somerville police told Patch. "If anyone has any additional information, please contact the Somerville Detective Bureau at 617-625-1600 extension 7220."

The incident drew attention online and renewed discussion over housing affordability and redevelopment in the city. Police have not identified any suspects.
