Somerville Celebrating Memorial Day And Independence Anniversary With Multiple Ceremonies

Both events will be held regardless of weather.

SOMERVILLE, MA — The city will hold two public events this month to honor veterans, with a Memorial Day parade on Saturday, May 16, and a remembrance ceremony on Monday, May 25.

The city said this year’s event timeline is a special observance of Memorial Day, Armed Forces Day, and the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. at Somerville City Hall on 93 Highland Ave.

The procession will head west on Highland Avenue, then turn onto Cedar Street, continue to Franey Road, and end at Trum Field on Broadway. Mayor Jake Wilson is encouraging residents to watch along the route through salutes, waves, and cheers.
