Somerville Early Voting Schedule For Primary Election

SOMERVILLE, MA — Early voting is underway in Somerville ahead of the State Primary Election on Tuesday, Sept. 1.

Residents can cast their ballots in the lower level of Somerville City Hall, 93 Highland Ave., from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 25 and Wednesday, Aug. 26. Hours will be extended on Thursday, Aug. 27, from 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The early voting period will conclude on Friday, Aug. 28, with residents able to cast their ballots from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Early voting began on Saturday, Aug. 22, when residents were able to cast their ballots from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Voting continued during the same hours on Sunday, Aug. 23, before City Hall was open for early voting from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 24.

Saturday, Aug. 22 was also the deadline for voter registration ahead of the State Primary Election. Residents were able to register in person at City Hall until 5 p.m. or online until midnight.

Registered voters can also request a mail-in ballot for the election. The deadline to apply for a Vote by Mail ballot is Tuesday, Aug. 25, at 5 p.m. Applications are available online, at the Elections Department in City Hall, or by calling the Elections Department at 617-625-6600 ext. 4200 and requesting that an application be mailed.

Completed mail-in ballots can be returned through one of the city's official election drop boxes, by mail, or directly to the Elections Department at City Hall. All completed mail-in ballots must be received by 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 1. The city's drop boxes are located at City Hall, East Somerville Community School, Argenziano School, Mystic Activity Center, Catherine of Genoa Church, Somerville Armory, Somerville Community Baptist Church, Dilboy Post, Tufts Administrative Building and West Somerville Neighborhood School.

Residents who choose to vote on Election Day can visit their regular polling place on Tuesday, Sept. 1, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. Somerville has 32 polling locations across the city, and voters can find their polling location through the city's online polling place lookup tool.
