Sudbury Field Closed Through Summer 2027 For Construction

SUDBURY, MA — A major improvement project is underway at Lower Feeley Field, temporarily taking the athletic facility out of use.

Construction began Monday, and the field will remain closed through summer 2027, according to a town notice. The extended closure will allow newly planted grass to grow and become fully established before athletic activities resume.

Planned improvements include an accessible path from the parking lot to the far field, upgraded dugouts, new fencing along the first- and third-base sides and backstop improvements. The project also includes better drainage, a new irrigation system and an improved playing surface.

Frank Feeley Field, located at 200 Raymond Road, contains baseball and softball diamonds, tennis courts, restrooms and other facilities.

The town’s construction plans also call for other site and field improvements. A public bid notice described the broader project as including reconstruction of two natural-grass softball fields, subsurface drainage and irrigation, according to the Sudbury Town Manager’s Office.

Town officials thanked residents for their patience and said the improved field is expected to reopen in summer 2027.
