Mosqutioes Test Positive For West Nile Virus In Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY, MA — A mosquito collection from the town has tested positive for West Nile Virus.

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health has informed the town of the results this week.

Spraying for mosquitoes is set for Thursday with a rain date of Friday.

The town's Health Department stated that the risk level for the virus remains moderate.

The spraying will occur in affected areas from 8 p.m. to midnight.

Residents should close street-facing windows and keep pets inside from 8 p.m. to midnight.

It's also advised to stay inside during the application and for 15 to 20 minutes afterwards.

No precautions are needed the day after the application, as all residue will have evaporated.
