Smash-And-Grab Thieves Hit Wakefield, Peabody Convenience Stores
The suspects are accused of stealing over $6,000 in scratch-off tickets in Wakefield and may have struck another store in Peabody.
WAKEFIELD, MA — Thieves broke into a Wakefield convenience store and stole handfuls of scratch-off tickets early Wednesday morning, according to Wakefield police.
The smash-and-grab burglary occurred at Salem Variety Store at 222 Salem St. at about 3 a.m. The suspects were in and out of the store in about a minute, Officer Rossi Cone said.
Prakash and Durga Simkhada, the owners of Salem Variety, told WCVB-5 ABC that the three suspects stole 10 rolls of scratch-off tickets. The tickets are worth more than $6,000.

All the tickets were voided shortly after they were stolen.
Three suspects broke into A-One Market in Peabody shortly afterward and stole stacks of the lottery's new $50 scratch-off tickets, according to CBS News Boston.
