Friends Beyond Boston-Waltham Social

Friends Beyond Boston is a member-led social community group based in Waltham, Massachusetts, dedicated to fostering genuine, in-person connections for adults in their 20s, 30s, 40s+. Established in April 2017, the community brings together residents of Waltham, Newton, and surrounding areas who want to build friendships and a stronger local community through consistent, face-to-face connection.

FBB is more than a calendar of events. It is a community that members help shape and build together. Members are encouraged to contribute in whatever ways fit their interests, time, and capacity, whether that's suggesting an event idea, helping at a gathering, volunteering for one of our member roles, or hosting an event themselves with support from the FBB community. There is no expectation that everyone contribute in the same way; the goal is to create a community where people can participate and contribute in ways that work for them.

This member-led approach also allows FBB to reach beyond the Waltham area. Members in other parts of Massachusetts can volunteer as Local Leaders, organizing FBB events closer to where they live and helping create community closer to home. Local Leaders take an active role in building connections in their area, while FBB provides the foundation they've already needed to create: an established community, infrastructure, event and communication tools, templates and resources, guidance, and the support of an existing network.

Our calendar includes a mix of casual, low-pressure gatherings designed to make meeting people feel natural, including coffee socials, brunches, shared meals, brewery outings, silent reading hours, outdoor activities, and other member-driven events. Because members help shape what we do, the community continues to evolve with the interests of the people who are actually part of it.

At its heart, Friends Beyond Boston is about creating opportunities for people to get out from behind their screens, meet the people around them, and build real friendships close to home. We are a non-dating social community focused on connection, participation, and creating welcoming spaces where people can feel comfortable showing up and getting involved.

Membership is supported by a modest annual dues model that helps keep the community active, organized, and accessible. Clear community guidelines and an emphasis on respectful, inclusive social environments help create a space where members can connect with confidence.

Whether you simply want to come to events, have an idea you'd like to bring to life, volunteer for a member role, host an event, or become a Local Leader and help build community in another part of Massachusetts, there is a place for you at Friends Beyond Boston.
