Developer Backs Off Waltham Hotel Plans Due To Changing Economy: Report

A proposed six-story hotel, next to the Market Basket store off Route 128, remains only a blueprint.

WALTHAM, MA — Plans may be quashed for a hotel that would have gone up in a bustling Waltham business district, just off Interstate 95/Route 128 and on the site of a former Polaroid plant.

Developers are holding off on the proposed six-story hotel, at 1265 Main St., due to “economics affecting the hotel sector,” the Waltham Times reported Thursday.

The city last year approved a plan to develop the site, which is next to a Market Basket supermarket and other businesses, near Prospect Hill Park and Border Road.

The developers, known as 1265 Main Street LLC, have said they still plan to make use of the site, according to the newspaper. A Waltham City Council committee will discuss the matter next week.
