School Closures, Parking Ban + Meeting Changes As Blizzard Hits Wayland

Parts of Middlesex County have seen more than 15 inches of snow.

WAYLAND, MA — A major blizzard hit Massachusetts, and some cities and towns in Central Massachusetts saw more than a foot of snow.

Parts of Middlesex County have seen more than 15 inches of snow, as of Monday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. A state of emergency remains in effect across multiple counties, and Wayland took precautions ahead of the storm, including closing schools and public buildings.

Parking Ban

The town is asking residents to stay off the roads and avoid on-street parking, as part of a Parking Ban that went into effect on Sunday at 9 p.m. Wayland said it will remain in effect until further notice.

All vehicles parked on-street may be subject to ticketing and towing, according to the town.

School, Building Closures

All Wayland Public Schools and the Central Office were closed on Monday, the school district announced.

Town Offices, non-emergency municipal buildings, and the Wayland Public Library were also closed on Monday.

Public Meeting Changes

The town announced that all public meetings scheduled for Monday night would be held remotely. That includes the Select Board meeting at 6 p.m., the Board of Health meeting at 6:30 p.m. and the Finance Committee meeting at 7 p.m.
