Severe Weather Damages Towns Across State

A tornado possibly hit Massachusetts overnight, and some towns had severe thunderstorm warnings.

A severe thunderstorm warning persisted in parts of Massachusetts even after a tornado warning expired overnight.

Several towns suffered damage, according to multiple reports, namely Concord and Marlborough, which had been under the tornado warning and sustained severe wind damage. Downed wires and tree branches have been reported.

The National Weather Service will be conducting damage checks on the ground in both towns later today to assess whether or not a tornado did indeed touch down.

The thunderstorm warning was in effect for parts of Middlesex, Essex, Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth counties through 4:30-4:45 a.m. A rare tornado warning was in effect for several towns west and north of Boston, including Marlborough, Wayland, North Reading and Newton, until 4 a.m.
