WAYLAND, MA — A Wayland High School student was hospitalized after suffering burns during a fire at the school Tuesday.

The fire at the Old Connecticut Path school was started by an acetylene torch, Wayland Fire Chief Neil McPherson told Patch. The student was treated and released from the hospital, according to Chief McPherson’s understanding.

Students were allowed to return to the building after the incident Tuesday, and the school is safe for students, McPherson said.
