New Montessori School To Open In Westborough

WESTBOROUGH, MA — A new Montessori school for preschool and kindergarten-age children plans to open in Westborough early next year.

Meadows Montessori School is scheduled to open in January 2027 with a primary program for children ages two years, nine months through six, according to an announcement from the school. Enrollment is underway for the new program.

The school, located at The Good Shepherd Lutheran Church at 183 W Main St, describes itself as a small, community-based program centered on hands-on learning. Its curriculum will emphasize nature, curiosity and age-appropriate independence.

Heather Vinci, founder and director of South Shore Montessori School, which recently entered its third year, will lead the school, along with her partner.

Vinci previously worked as an ESL teacher at the University of New Haven and a middle school English teacher in Connecticut. She also spent more than 14 years as a lead primary teacher, forest educator and summer camp director at The Riverbend School in South Natick.

Classrooms, Programs

Montessori classrooms typically group children of different ages and allow students to work with specially designed materials at their own pace. Teachers act as guides while students select activities within a prepared classroom environment, according to the American Montessori Society.

The Westborough school will offer four programs, including a full-day program from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.; a half-day program from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.; morning care from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. and extended day from 2:30 to 5 p.m.

Meadows Montessori School is currently enrolling students. It held a community open house on Sept. 26 at GSLC.
