Shrewsbury could receive $250,000 in state bond funding aimed at strengthening the town's local economy.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Westborough could receive $250,000 in state bond funding aimed at strengthening the town’s local economy.

The funding was included in amendments to the Senate’s economic development bill filed by state Sen. Michael Moore (D-Millbury), who announced Thursday that five $250,000 bond authorizations had been adopted for Auburn, Grafton, Millbury, Shrewsbury and Westborough.

“These dollars can help support local jobs and expand economic opportunities within our communities,” Sen. Moore wrote in the announcement.

The broader bill, S.3178, would authorize $325.1 million in bond obligations and $100 million in direct fiscal 2026 appropriations from the Education and Transportation Fund, according to the Massachusetts Legislature. The Senate has described the package as an economic development bill focused on business growth, local jobs, housing, artificial intelligence safety and scientific research.
