Westborough Transfer Station Gets New Home

The town said it's also updating its recycling program.

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Beginning next week, the transfer station in Westborough will have a new home.

The transfer station will move to 62A Hopkinton Rd. beginning on Monday, Mar. 23. The town said it's also updating its recycling program to include single-stream recycling.

The entrance to the transfer station is the driveway before the current location, which has two lanes for entry and one lane for exit. The town said the layout is meant to reduce congestion and increase safety.

Westborough residents with a valid permit from the Health Department are allowed to use the facility, but commercial vehicles will not be allowed entry.

The new transfer station will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, except on Saturdays, when it will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

There are several rules in place regarding what residents can bring to the facility. And official Westborough trash bags are still required, and the town's pay-as-you-throw program remains in effect.

Food waste will continue to be collected separately, while mercury and lightbulb shed can be collected at the new site.

For yard waste, residents must bring it to the Hopkinton Road location.
