Westborough MA Primary 2026: What Voters Need To Know

WESTBOROUGH, MA — Voters will head to the polls Tuesday to cast ballots in two contested statewide races.

The Sept. 1 primary includes a Democratic U.S. Senate race between incumbent Sen. Edward J. Markey and U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton, along with a Republican governor’s contest between Michael Roger Minogue and Brian Shortsleeve.

Westborough’s congressional, Governor’s Council and state legislative races are not contested in either party’s primary, according to the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s candidate lists.

U.S. Rep. James McGovern, Governor’s Councilor Paul DePalo, state Sen. John Cronin and state Rep. Kate Donaghue are all running unopposed in their respective Democratic primaries. Republican Margaret Abboud is also running unopposed for the Governor’s Council seat.

All six Westborough precincts will vote at Westborough High School, 90 West Main St.

Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., according to the Westborough Town Clerk.

Registered Democrats and Republicans must vote in their respective primaries. Unenrolled voters may choose either party’s ballot.
