WESTBOROUGH — Local students will soon have a chance to take on a leadership role in town government.

Westborough Youth Commission is looking for two high school students to serve as voting members for the 2026–2027 school year. The positions are open to current 10th-grade residents who will be juniors in the fall.

Student members serve alongside adult appointees on the nine-member board, which advises on issues affecting youth and families in Westborough.

Student commissioners take on leadership roles in town government, provide community service, and help elevate youth voices. Responsibilities include attending monthly meetings, contributing to policy and program discussions, volunteering at events, and representing the commission in the community.

Youth Commission Student Members typically commit two to three hours per month and serve a two-year term running from September of junior year through June of senior year.

Applicants must submit a letter of interest by May 12. Candidates will then be invited to attend a Youth Commission meeting on May 18 at 6:30 p.m. to meet current members and learn more about the position. Final recommendations will be made to the Select Board following that meeting.

The Youth Commission works closely with Youth & Family Services to support programming and advocate for initiatives that promote youth development, mental health, and community involvement.
