$15K Reward For Info Into Baby's Death At MI Music Festival

ROTHBURY, MI — The FBI is offering a $15,000 reward for information in a case where a newborn was found dead in a portable bathroom at a Michigan music festival last month.

The body was discovered by an employee of the restroom vending company during routine maintenance on June 28 at the Electric Forest festival in Rothbury, according to police.

The festival is Michigan's largest music festival and typically attracts tens of thousands every year.

An autopsy revealed the full-term baby "was viable and born alive," according to police.

Investigators followed through on a tip that led them to a woman in the Muskegon area who attended the festival. She was fully cooperative with investigators and has been eliminated as a suspect in this case.

"The MSP remains committed to a thorough investigation of this incident," Michigan State Police said in a statement. "We are confident that continued investigative efforts, combined with forensic science, will ultimately lead to the identification of the person responsible."
