Haley Stevens' U.S. Senate Bid Gets Endorsement Nod From Former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm

Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Haley Stevens continues to add high-caliber surrogates to her campaign roster, which now includes former Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm.

Stevens, a sitting congresswoman representing the state’s 11th Congressional District, announced the endorsement from Granholm on Tuesday.
On Monday, Stevens announced a key endorsement from Delaware U.S. Sen. Chris Coons. Former Democratic U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow also announced her endorsement of Stevens earlier this month.

With Granholm in her corner, Stevens also continues to tout her early political achievements, chief among them being her work with the administration of former President Barack Obama and its automotive rescue plan.

“Michigan’s next Senator needs to focus on Michigan jobs, Michigan manufacturing, bringing down costs for Michigan families and standing up for Michigan against Donald Trump’s recklessness. That’s Haley Stevens,” Granholm said in a statement circulated by Stevens’ campaign. “Haley’s got Michigan grit, which I saw while she served as Chief of Staff to President Obama’s auto rescue and was a key member of the team that helped save 200,000 Michigan auto jobs.”
Granholm added that Stevens will take on “Trump to protect our auto industry from China, end his damaging tariffs and bring down costs for Michiganders.”
“Haley delivers for Michigan and will beat Mike Rogers this November, and I couldn’t be more proud to support her,” Granholm said.
Stevens praised Granholm, who served as the U.S. Secretary of Energy under former President Joe Biden, as a “champion for Michigan workers her entire career.”
“She’s a trailblazer who created jobs, protected our Great Lakes and freshwater, and fought for our auto and manufacturing industry,” Stevens said in a statement.
Stevens faces a three-way battle in the August Democratic U.S. Senate primary, including state Sen. Mallory McMorrow of Royal Oak and former Wayne County health official Abdul El-Sayed.
The Republican primary is a two-way race between former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers of White Lake and former Michigan Republican Party co-chair Bernadette Smith.
