A new report lists Michigan's most dangerous intersections, and most of them are in the metro Detroit area.

Michigan Auto Law put together the report using 2025 data from Michigan State Police to determine which intersections saw the most traffic crashes.

On their list of the top 20 worst intersections, only two are outside southeastern Michigan.

The leading causes of intersection accidents were running red lights, disregarding stop and yield signs, failing to yield the right-of-way, disregarding the right-of-way laws, improper left-hand turns, speeding, distracted driving and impaired driving, according to the report.

The report describes an intersection as a roadway controlled by traffic signals, four-way stop signs, or roundabouts.

The analysis includes reported traffic crashes that occurred within 200 feet of an intersection, including those near freeways and their on-ramps, off-ramps, and service roads, as well as divided highways and rural roads.

"Even when a crash doesn't result in an injury, it can have a significant impact on a driver and their family," Michigan Auto Law President and Attorney Steve Gursten said. "We hope this annual list encourages Michigan drivers to slow down, remain alert, and take extra precautions when traveling through these areas."
