These Are The Best School Districts In Michigan, New Ranking Says

The best school district in metro Detroit is the Novi Community School District, according to the 2027 Best School Districts in America list recently released by the education ranking service Niche.

Niche gave the district an overall A+ grade, with exceptional standouts for academics, administration, food, college prep and clubs and activities.

Other school districts in the Detroit area that got an “A-” or better grade are, in the order ranked, are:

2. Northville Public Schools, A+
3. Troy School District, A+
4. Oakland Schools, A+
5. Rochester Community School District, A+
6. Bloomfield Hills Schools, A+
7. Birmingham Public Schools, A+
8. Saline Area Schools, A+
9. Grosse Pointe Public School System, A+
10. Ann Arbor Public Schools, A+
11. Berkley School District, A
12. Brighton Area Schools, A
13. Washtenaw Intermediate School District, A
14. Lake Orion Community Schools, A
15. West Bloomfield School District, A
16. Woodhaven-Brownstown School District, A
17. Plymouth-Canton Community Schools, A
18. Clarkston Community School District, A
19. Royal Oak Schools, A-
20. Livonia Public Schools School District, A-

Niche also released its best public schools and best private schools rankings.

Niche’s rankings combine federal and state data, school statistics, and over 3 million reviews from students, parents, and teachers to evaluate schools beyond test scores.

This year, Niche updated its methodology and created separate public and private rankings for categories including arts, diversity, college prep and teachers. It also introduced school-type-specific methodologies for boarding schools and private online high schools.

“Families deserve a complete view of their options, whether they’re evaluating schools in their area or exploring what’s available elsewhere,” Niche founder and CEO Luke Skurman said in a news release.
