DETROIT — A popular restaurant and butcher shop in Detroit is closing down soon.
Marrow is closing its location along Kercheval in West Village on June 7 after eight years, founder Ping Ho said Monday.
Ho said she is closing the West Village location so she can fully shift her focus to its new spot in Eastern Market.

"After a lot of reflection, I’ve made the decision to consolidate Marrow and put our full focus on Marrow in Eastern Market, along with the continued growth of Marrow Detroit Provisions," Ho said.
Ho described the closure as "bittersweet" and thanked chefs Sarah Welch and Eddie Moreau, who is moving to Florida after five years at the restaurant.

Marrow's Birmingham location will stay open through Memorial Day weekend before transitioning to a new concept that will still include a Marrow "presence," Ho said.
No other details about that transition were released.
Marrow's Eastern Market location opened along Riopelle Street last October.
The 14,000 square-foot space features a "butcher’s brasserie" vibe that includes a meat processing facility and butcher shop, two bars, a large dining room and private event space.
The shop/restaurant is best-known for its aged steaks, sausages, deli meats and gourmet sundries, which staff say will be a great addition to Eastern Market’s lively weekend farmers’ and shopping markets.
"We have a beautiful, purpose-built butcher shop and restaurant just a few miles away in Eastern Market, and we hope you’ll continue to be part of our family there. Turning the page on this chapter is bittersweet," Ho said. "Since we opened in West Village in 2018, that space has been home to so many meaningful meals, milestones, and memories."
