DETROIT — A beloved Detroit donut shop is opening a second location.
Dutch Girl Donuts will open a new spot at 2820 E. Grand Blvd in Detroit sometime this spring, owner Paddy Lynch announced Wednesday.
The building is home to Howrani Studios, which will remain in its original space, but Dutch Girl's will be added to the storefront.

"Beginning this spring, the building’s main storefront along E. Grand Blvd. will become the second location of Dutch Girl Donuts, bringing a well-known Detroit staple to the North End," reads a press release. "Portions of the building will also be available for private parties and special events, bringing more energy, activity, and contributing to the neighborhood’s continued growth."
The new location will sell donuts baked at the original building located along Woodward Avenue near 7 Mile Road in Detroit. That spot was founded by the Timmer family in 1947.

Lynch, who also owns Detroit's historic bathhouse, The Schvitz, and is a third-generation funeral director with Lynch and Sons, bought the shop in 2023 a few weeks after previous owner and founder Gene Timmer died.
He reopened the shop in 2024 with some new equipment, but kept the recipes and even some staff members.
