Iconic Doughnut Chain Coming To Metro Detroit

Shipley Do-Nuts is coming to metro Detroit.

The doughnut chain, best known for their handmade daily doughnuts and kolaches, is planning to open 15 shops across Macomb, Oakland and Wayne counties.

The chain is targeting the end of the first quarter of 2027 for its first shop, though that exact location was unknown.

After that, the chain plans to open at least three locations per year over the next four years.

The shops will open through a partnership with Hole Lotta Dough, LLC.

"Hole Lotta Dough brings the local expertise and Houston-to-Detroit connections to bring Shipley to life the right way in a brand-new market," Shipley Do-Nuts CEO Flynn Dekker said. "This partnership is a testament to our franchise growth strategy, and we're excited to introduce Metro Detroit communities to the fresh doughnuts and kolaches that have brought people together for generations."

Shipley Do-Nuts will bring its fresh, handmade-daily doughnuts, including its signature glazed doughnut to the Detroit area.

The shop will also introduce metro Detroiters to Texas kolaches, pronounced "kuh-LAH-cheese." The savory breakfast sandwich features sausage, egg, bacon, jalapeno and cheese, wrapped in fresh dough and baked.

The chain will also have coffee options, such as a "shift starter" hot drip coffee. Other espresso-based drinks will include the Classic Glazed Latte featuring glazed doughnut flavor, cold foam and doughnut crumbles, available hot or iced.

Shipley Do-Nuts was founded in Houston in 1936 and has more than 390 locations across 13 states. Most shops open at 5 a.m. daily and feature a working bakery where bakers show up at 3 a.m. to craft the first batch of donuts and kolaches.
