Iconic Seafood Restaurant Coming To JW Marriott Detroit Water Square

A popular seafood restaurant will open inside the upcoming JW Marriott Detroit Water Square in downtown Detroit.

DETROIT — The Joe Vicari Restaurant Group will open a new Joe Muer Seafood restaurant inside the upcoming JW Marriott Detroit Water Square in downtown Detroit, Patch learned Monday.

The restaurant is expected to open alongside the hotel’s debut in January 2027. It will occupy the first floor of the hotel that runs parallel to the Detroit Riverwalk with seating for 220 guests.

"An icon, reimagined — we’re excited to welcome the legendary Joe Muer brand to JW Marriott Detroit Water Square," said hotel general manager Joleisha Bradley. "Together, we’re shaping a premier luxury destination that reflects the energy and renewal of Detroit’s waterfront."

The menu will feature Joe Muer's signature dishes, such as lobster bisque, oysters rockefeller and shrimp ilene. There will also be prime steaks and other elevated menu items.

Executive chef Najwa Mansour, who has been with Joe Vicari Restaurant Group for over 20 years, will lead the menu.

There will also be Chef’s table seating, which will seat guests directly in front of an open kitchen, giving them a front-row view of the culinary action.

The restaurant’s interior was designed by Detroit native Colin Tury of Tury Design, providing a distinctive, three-dimensional dining environment that pays homage to Joe Muer’s heritage while embracing a thoroughly modern aesthetic.

Andiamo Italian Chophouse was originally slated to be the flagship restaurant at the new waterfront hotel, but the group opted for Joe Muer Seafood + Chops.

"To meet growing customer demand, Joe Muer Seafood + Chops will continue to prominently feature fresh seafood from around the globe along with an expanded selection of prime and Wagyu steaks, and other new, exciting offerings," Owner Joe Vicari said. "We are proud to be part of the new JW Marriott Detroit Water Square and to introduce the legendary Joe Muer Seafood to a new generation of diners through this remarkable waterfront development."

Joe Muer Seafood also has restaurants along Woodward in Bloomfield Hills and inside the Renaissance Center in downtown Detroit.
