Severe Storms Possible Across Metro Detroit Friday

More severe storms are possible Friday across the Detroit area as nearly 250,000 DTE Energy customers are still without power.

The storms will continue through the morning hours and into the early afternoon when highs reach the 80s, according to the National Weather Service.

Forecasters warned the storms could produce heavy downpours, large hail and winds up to 60 miles per hour.

Areas along and south of M-59 in the region are under a slight risk (level 2/5) for severe weather Friday.

The storms should fade away during the evening and nighttime hours.

The stormy weather will finally leave the state by Saturday, giving way to a comfortable weekend with highs in the 70s and plenty of sunshine, according to NWS.

Highs will be near 80 degrees on Labor Day under sunny skies across the Detroit area, according to NWS.
