Man Dies After Tree Falls On Him During Thunderstorm In MI: Sheriff
Officials said high winds from a thunderstorm knocked down the tree.
KENT COUNTY, MI — A man died Monday after he was hit by a falling tree during a thunderstorm in west Michigan, according to sheriff's officials.
The incident happened just after 5 p.m. at a home near Crinnion Avenue and 16 Mile Road in Courtland Township, officials said.
Officials said the 39-year-old Solon Township man was standing outside a home with friends when strong winds from a thunderstorm moved through the area.

Multiple trees fell in the area, including one that landed onto the 39-year-old man, killing him, officials said.
Witnesses told officials the man warned them to move just before the tree came down, actions they believe likely prevented more people from being struck.

Thousands of people in the area were without power Monday morning after the storms rolled through the area, according to Consumers Energy.
No other details were released as officials are still investigating the incident.
