2 Arrested In Grosse Pointe Woods Attempted Carjacking, Shots Fired: Police

GROSSE POINTE WOODS, MI — Two people were arrested Tuesday after shots were fired in an attempted carjacking in Grosse Pointe Woods, according to police.

The incident happened at 5 a.m. Tuesday in the 2100 block of Anita Avenue, according to police.

Police said two people attempted to steal a vehicle while brandishing a gun.

The victim also pulled out a gun and fired shots, causing the suspects to flee the scene in a light-colored SUV, according to police.

Police said the SUV was moving south on Mack Avenue before crashing nearby in Grosse Pointe Farms.

The suspects tried to run away, but were quickly captured by responding officers, according to police.

Police also recovered a firearm and the suspects' crashed SUV at the scene.

No one was struck by gunfire and police did not report any other injuries.

Police did not release any other details, including the suspects' identities.
