Teen Charged With Bringing Handgun To Wayne County School: Prosecutor

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after bringing a handgun to a Wayne County high school, according to prosecutors.

HARPER WOODS, MI — A 17-year-old boy has been charged after bringing a handgun to a Wayne County high school, according to prosecutors.

The teen, who was not named, has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon in a weapons-free school zone. He was placed in jail with a $2,000 bond.

If he posts bond, he cannot possess any firearms or firearm accessories, cannot use illegal drugs and must comply with school disciplinary action.

His next court date is scheduled for Jan. 27.

Prosecutors said the teen carried an unsecured and unlicensed handgun into at Chandler Park Academy in Harper Woods on Tuesday. The teen then placed the gun in a locker, prosecutors said.
