21 Arrested In Metro Detroit Prostitution Sting: Sheriff
Nearly two dozen people were arrested in connection with a human trafficking sting this week in metro Detroit this week, officials said.
MACOMB TOWNSHIP, MI — Nearly two dozen people were arrested in connection with a human trafficking sting in metro Detroit this week, according to the Macomb County Sheriff's Office.
Officials arrested 12 people in connection with commercial sex activity and nine others connected to facilitating commercial sexual activity.
The 12 people arrested were processed and released pending criminal charges for prostitution/accosting and soliciting (93-day misdemeanor). The other nine face charges of prostitution/transporting a person (20-year felony).

The operation was carried out by the Macomb County Sheriff's Enforcement Team, which includes detectives from the sheriff's office and the Warren Police Department.
"Human trafficking is a serious and disturbing crime that exploits the most vulnerable among us," Macomb County County Sheriff Anthony Wickersham said. "These arrests send a clear message that our office will aggressively pursue those who profit from human suffering."
