Child, Grandparents Attacked By Family Dogs In Macomb County: Sheriff

BRUCE TOWNSHIP, MI — Three people, including a child, are recovering after they were attacked by their family dogs Wednesday in Macomb County, according to sheriff's officials.

The incident happened at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday along 34 Mile Road in Bruce Township, officials said.

Officials said a 3-year-old boy was exiting a nearby pond when the three dogs attacked him.

The child's grandparents intervened and tried to stop the attack, officials said.

The 62-year-old woman and the child suffered significant injuries but officials said they were non-life-threatening.

The 68-year-old man suffered minor injuries in the attack, officials said.

All three were taken to a nearby hospital where they were in stable condition, officials said.

Two of the dogs were dead at the scene, while the third dog was taken to a veterinarian, who humanely euthanized the dog, officials said.

Officials did not say how the dogs at the scene died. They also did not identify the dogs' breed.
