Westland Girl, 18, Killed In Domestic Shooting: Reports

One person has been arrested in connection with the shooting, according to police.

WESTLAND, MI — An 18-year-old girl was killed in a domestic shooting in Westland over the weekend, according to news reports.

The shooting happened on Sunday at a home in the Landings apartment complex located along Hunter Avenue in Westland, Fox 2 Detroit reports.

Friends identified the victim as 18-year-old Monica Rokita. They told WXYZ she recently moved into the apartment with her boyfriend, whom they had questions about.

"There's definitely some signs there, and it's unfortunate that. You know, nothing happened to prevent any of that," one friend told the news station.

The boyfriend has been arrested in connection with the shooting, according to the report.

Friends created a GoFundMe page was created to help pay for funeral and memorial expenses.

"There are truly no words that can describe the heartbreak of knowing that someone so young, with so much life left to live, is no longer here with us," friends wrote on the page.
