Come see six exhibit panels highlighting “The Oakland County Underground Railroad Project,” a multi-community public history project to research and provide access to evidence-based local Underground Railroad history. It was led by The Birmingham Museum and Oakland County Historical Commission, funded in part by Michigan Humanities, an affiliate of the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm is open for drop-in hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 12 - 3pm, with a Guided Tour of the 1840 Van Hoosen Farmhouse at 1:00pm and the 1850 Red House immediately following. 
Included with your admission is a self-paced, interactive look at our community’s local history. You also get to meet the Taylor-Van Hoosen families, check out Mastodon bones, and enjoy a wide variety of local videos from the Newberry Hill ski jump to our award-winning PBS movie and numerous computer interactives. The guided tour of the Van Hoosen Farmhouse departs from the Dairy Barn at 1:00 pm, and you may take a self-guided tour of the Bull Barn, Milk House, Equipment Barn, and Children’s Garden, as well as the nearby Stoney Creek Cemetery, and our 16 acres of grounds. Come and share your afternoon with us at our site – listed on the National Register of Historic Places!

Experience a traditional German celebration hosted by the Deutsch-Amerikanischer Schützenverein, featuring live entertainment by Tommy Schober &amp; The Sorgenbrecher. Admission is $20.00 and includes a classic Biergarten dinner with sausage, potato salad, sauerkraut, and a roll.

Through the voices of biologists, artists, Native communities and others, we discover the redwoods’ scientific marvels and our deep cultural ties to them. It’s a story that offers insights about the value of our interconnections, and the promise of solutions that will help us ALL rise up to face the challenges that lay ahead.
