Crews Respond To Crude Oil Leak In Macomb County

STERLING HEIGHTS, MI — Crews on Friday are cleaning up a crude oil leak in Macomb County.

Officials said the break happened near Mound and 18 Mile roads in Sterling Heights.

The 16-inch pipeline carries crude oil through the city, officials said.

Roughly 100 gallons of crude oil have spilled onto parts of the roads and parking lots in the area, officials said.

Crews have shut down pressure to the line, but officials said some residual pressure remains, causing a small amount of oil to continue surfacing.

Officials said there is no danger to residents or homes in the area.

Crews are working to contain the crude oil from entering city and county storm drains.

Officials said the appropriate county and state agencies are working to identify and repair the source of the leak.
