2 Kids Found Dead In MI Home With Generator Running During Power Outage: Police
Investigators believe the gas-powered generator was running during a power outage following Friday's severe storms.
SUMPTER TOWNSHIP, MI — Two kids were found dead in a metro Detroit home Saturday from suspected carbon monoxide poisoning, according to police.
Officers found the two kids, ages 12 and 8, dead inside the home's garage, where a portable gas-powered generator was running, according to police.
Investigators believe the gas-powered generator was running during a power outage following Friday's severe storms.

"Sadly, attempts to resuscitate them were unsuccessful," police said in a statement, adding: "Our sincere condolences go out to the family during this difficult time."
It's unclear where the parents were or who was supervising the children.

Police did not release any other details.
Police offered the following safety tips:
- Never run a generator inside a home, garage, basement, shed, or other enclosed area, only outdoors, well away from doors, windows, and vents.
- Ensure your home has working carbon monoxide (CO) detectors.
