Seventeen-year-old Troy resident works to provide practical help for self-worth and dignity to those less fortunate

Want to feel good by having a Pilates workout? Want to feel even better by combining that workout with a chance to help 200 people in the Detroit community receive special hygiene kits that will make them feel better?
This Saturday, March 21, at 12:30 PM, BC Hot Mat (45575 Mound Road in Shelby Township) is partnering with Troy high schooler Sienna Nguyen to raise funds for that goal. Sienna's Project is her youth-led initiative that she started to help people around the world - and locally - have more of the basic items needed for sanitation and hygiene.

Sienna also serves as the Youth Engagement Lead for A Vision for Clean Water (avisionforcleanwater.org) and is the first youth member to serve on the organization’s board. In this role, she works to engage and inspire other young people to learn about the global water crisis and get involved in supporting clean water and sanitation initiatives. Working with A Vision for Clean Water, she has already successfully helped bring safe toilets to ten families in Cambodia, improving sanitation and protecting the health and dignity of families who previously lacked proper facilities.
In addition to Saturday's event, she will be organizing a hygiene kit-packing day with youth from Christ, Our Light! on Sunday, May 3, to support people in need in our community.
