Oakland County Man Dies While Diving In Florida Keys: Sheriff

MARATHON, FL — A West Bloomfield man died while scuba diving in the Florida Keys last Friday, according to Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in Florida.

Officials pulled 64-year-old Stephen Matheny from the water at 11:20 a.m. Friday, officials said.

First responders attempted CPR on Matheny before he was taken to a nearby hospital where he died, officials said.

Officials are still investigating the cause of death, but do not suspect any foul play.

Autopsy results are pending.
