1 Shot, 1 In Custody After Gunfire In Rural Stearns County: Police

"The victim and suspect were known to each other and there is no danger to the public," the Stearns County Sheriff's Office said.

BELGRADE, MN — One person was shot and another was taken into custody over the weekend in rural Stearns County, according to authorities.

Law enforcement responded around noon Saturday to a home in the 900 block of School Street in Belgrade after receiving a call from the gunman’s mother, reporting her son had shot someone, police said, adding that when officers arrived, they found a male who had been shot repeatedly.

A 44-year-old Belgrade man was taken into custody and held pending charges, according to police.

The victim was brought to Paynesville Hospital, then helicoptered to St. Cloud Hospital, then moved again to Hennepin County Medical Center, according to police, who said his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
