Husband Charged In St. Cloud Killing Of Governor Candidate’s Daughter
Police say the 23-year-old was charged with second-degree murder after a woman was found stabbed inside a St. Cloud apartment.
ST. CLOUD, MN — The husband of a woman who was fatally stabbed over the weekend in St. Cloud has been charged with second-degree murder, police announced Tuesday.
St. Cloud police said Dylan Michael Tobler, 23, was medically cleared and released from St. Cloud Hospital at about 10:45 a.m. Tuesday.
Authorities said Tobler was taken into custody immediately upon his release and transported to the Stearns County Jail, where he is being held for court on a charge of second-degree murder.

The victim, identified as 22-year-old Hallie Marie Tobler of St. Cloud, was found dead Saturday night inside an apartment in the 3100 block of 40th Avenue South. Police said officers responded to a reported medical emergency at about 8:20 p.m. on Feb. 7 and found Hallie Tobler dead from multiple stab wounds inside a locked apartment.
Investigators previously said Dylan Tobler was also found inside the apartment with life-threatening injuries believed to be self-inflicted. Authorities have said there is no threat to the public.

Hallie Tobler was the daughter of Dr. Jeff Johnson, a Republican candidate for Minnesota governor and a former St. Cloud City Council member. Following her death, the Republican Party of Minnesota announced that Johnson had suspended his gubernatorial campaign.
“There are no words that can adequately express the sorrow we feel for Jeff and his family,” the party said in a statement. “The loss of a child is unimaginable, and our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grieve this devastating tragedy.”
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting the St. Cloud Police Department with the ongoing investigation.
